As L.A.’s performing arts center, The Music Center convenes artists, communities and ideas with the goal of deepening the cultural lives of every resident in Los Angeles County. The Music Center provides year-round programming inside The Music Center’s four theatres, on Jerry Moss Plaza, outside at Gloria Molina Grand Park—a 12-acre adjacent green space—in schools and other locations all over Los Angeles County.
Theatre Of Hearts, Inc. was founded as a nonprofit corporation in 1987 to promote understanding between people through cultural and artistic forums and to empower local communities through education in the arts. In the wake of civil unrest in Los Angeles in 1992, Theatre Of Hearts initiated our Youth First Artist-In-Residence (AIR) Program. Our mission is to prevent and intervene in youth violence by involving underserved, at-risk youth, ages 4-18, in long-term high quality, multidisciplinary, standards-based arts educational workshops throughout Los Angeles County.
HipHop Class
UniverSOUL Hip Hop (USHH) is a Los Angeles-based collective of professional Hip Hop and Street Dance artists bringing culturally grounded, joyful dance experiences to schools and communities. Through arts education, expanded learning, interactive assemblies, family engagement, and professional development, USHH partners with schools to support student learning, creative expression, belonging, and positive school culture.
Our methodology is successful because the "language" of animation is universal. It speaks to all ages and transcends cultural barriers. It is a powerful means of communication. We formed AnimAction in 1989, with a single purpose in mind: to utilize our professional expertise in creating a unique and innovative environment for young people; one where they could experience the spirit of collaboration, develop new skills, and exercise the ability to make their own creative choices.
ETM LA Logo
Originally established in 2006, ETM-LA reaches approximately 18,000 students across 41 schools and five school districts annually. To date, we’ve impacted over 150,000 children with music education. Our work is built on four key pillars:
The Skirball Cultural Center welcomes people of all communities and generations to participate in cultural experiences that celebrate discovery and hope, foster human connections, and call upon us to help build a more just society. At the Skirball, learning means connecting to arts and culture, to history and the world around them through meaningful experiences. Our Education programs are unique in their emphasis on interpersonal engagement, multisensory learning, and values-based content.
Lineage Performing Arts Center
Lineage creates a home for connecting through the arts for the greater Pasadena area by producing public works of dance, theater, and music; providing arts education in schools and for amateurs and professionals; and supporting other artists and nonprofits with production and infrastructure.
Students painting
The MobileMuralLab (MML) collaborates with artists, organizations, cultural institutions, schools, and communities to facilitate interactive mural painting programs, events and workshops.
Founded in 1992, Side Street Projects is an entirely mobile artist-run organization that gives artists of all ages the ability and the means to support their creative endeavors. The artists at Side Street Projects are social entrepreneurs who work with communities to solve real world problems. We share what we have learned to strengthen the field of artists who work with communities, schools, and organizations. Simply put, we teach artists how to roll up their sleeves and do things themselves. Each year we serve 10,000 individual (adult) artists and over 3,000 children.
