As L.A.’s performing arts center, The Music Center convenes artists, communities and ideas with the goal of deepening the cultural lives of every resident in Los Angeles County. The Music Center provides year-round programming inside The Music Center’s four theatres, on Jerry Moss Plaza, outside at Gloria Molina Grand Park—a 12-acre adjacent green space—in schools and other locations all over Los Angeles County. The Music Center presents world-class dance with Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at The Music Center, participatory dancing experiences, free and low-cost public concerts and events, arts education programs, workshops, performances, interactive experiences and special events. The Music Center also manages the theatres, the Plaza and Gloria Molina Grand Park on behalf of the County of Los Angeles. The Music Center is home to four renowned resident companies—Center Theatre Group, Los Angeles Master Chorale, LA Opera and LA Phil.
Arts Education Programs
The Music Center's arts education programs serve young people and educators of all backgrounds and abilities, with festivals and events on campus, in-school performing arts assemblies, arts integration residencies for students (grades TK-12) and professional development for educators (TK-12) in dance, music, theatre visual and media arts. This includes The Music Center's Teach Through The Arts Initiative in support of Proposition 28 - with educator coaching and Professional Learning Community sessions with a Music Center teaching artist and online support. Our offerings feature over 50 performing arts assemblies (K-12) in dance, music, theatre and storytelling and free festivals and events each year, including the Blue Ribbon Children’s Festival (5th grade), the Very Special Arts Festival (TK-12) and student matinee dance performances (grades 6-12).
