About:

The orchestra’s mission is: through live performances and its stimulating music education programs, to share the beauty and inspiration of classical music with Southern California audiences, giving special focus to Latino communities that are underserved and underrepresented by the arts. The orchestra has developed a dynamic program for making music more accessible to everyone. It offers: free or affordable concerts of high quality, especially in communities that are underserved by the arts in Los Angeles; special performance opportunities for minorities; and a music education program for elementary schools.

Student Programming:

Professional musicians from Santa Cecilia Orchestra provide students with an introduction to the instruments of the symphony orchestra. Each and every classroom is visited and individual musicians provide a 25-minute presentation to the students in their very own classroom. Visit culminates with an invitation to our upcoming symphony orchestra concerts. The students may attend free of charge with their entire family. Prior to every concert there are tables filled with instruments from the brass, woodwind, string and percussion family. All in attendance are invited to try the instruments.
