We encourage 2–3 new participants, including student mental health professionals, PBIS leads, school psychologists, classroom teachers and/or counselors, along with one or two TEAL-trained educators who will help guide TEAL application in the district.
Goal: To develop district and school capacity in the area of social emotional learning using the Visual and Performing Arts, while connecting student mental wellness with learning activities and strategies that integrate the arts.
This TEAL professional development will include specific strategies to engage students, developing what the Collaborative for Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL) identifies as SEL
core competencies. It will also provide access to Student Mental Health Initiative resources for teachers, administrators and counseling staff, and address research that supports the benefits of arts integration on students’ social and emotional learning.
Technology Enhanced Arts Learning (TEAL) is a project of the LA County Arts Education Collective, developed and implemented by the Los Angeles County Office of Education in partnership with the Los Angeles County Arts Commission.
