The Department of Arts and Culture shares the Los Angeles Suicide Prevention Network’s vision that there is a Hero in All of Us to prevent suicide and promote mental well-being. Arts & Culture will host a series of three sequential workshops facilitated by the LA County Department of Mental Health’s Partners in Suicide Prevention (PSP) Team. This is an opportunity for our arts community to grow a shared understanding of foundational mental health promotion concepts and reflect on how they connect to our work as artists, educators, organizers and advocates.
The idea for this series was sparked by Creative Wellbeing, an approach for fostering communities of wellness, especially for systems-impacted youth, those at-risk of becoming systems-impacted, and the adults who support them. The approach is being developed collaboratively by the LA County Department of Arts and Culture, Office of Child Protection, Department of Mental Health, Arts for Healing and Justice Network, and our partner school districts and community sites.
Attendance at all three workshops, totaling 7.5 hours, is strongly encouraged. The content is sequential and aims to build knowledge and community connections over the series.
